Fuel Tanker Crash Cause of Closed Freeway

Traffic has been restricted on eastbound Interstate 90 near Cle Elum, while crews work diligently to clean up a fuel trailer that overturned early this morning. That section of the freeway had been closed, until one lane was opened around 1 p.m. today. Traffic has been detoured on to State Route 970 to allow a safe and efficient cleanup.
The rear trailer being towed by the eastbound semi, flipped over after the big rig drove into the median of the freeway. Kittitas County firefighters state that hazardous materials team, set up foam lines and planned to drain fuel from the 6,000 gallon tank.
The driver of the big rig was allegedly not injured. He was also not intoxicated, according to reports.
The exact cause of the crash is under investigation.
As a auto accident attorney Bellingham, I advise drivers of oversized trucks to drive even more carefully. Operating such huge vehicles can be difficult at times, and requires a person’s total attention to be on the road.
